About The SeaWitch
The SeaWitch began it's life as one of nine small (20' by 26') cabins built as a motel in the 1940's. In the 1970's, the motel was condo-ized; many of the units were purchased by teachers from the Willamette Valley. The center unit was acquired by Edie Stewart and the cabin quickly became a favorite retreat for family and friends.
While the cabin was mainly referred to by family as "The Beach", Edie named it "The SeaWitch" early on. Some of the more talented guests were inspired to create artwork around this name.
Over the years, the condos evolved; most replaced a picture window on the beach side with a sliding glass door, some added a second story, dormers, balconies, etc. or modernized appliances. Only the SeaWitch remained essentially in its original form. However, in 2014 improvements were sorely needed and it became clear that the most cost effective path was to tear down the old cabin and rebuild on the original footprint.
The new incarnation of the SeaWitch was facilitated by new ownership, SeaWitches, LLC. While legally a partnership of the next generation (Christi & Kathy), Edie remains an active and definitely not silent partner.
